Temenos Khrysokeros, meaning ‘Golden Horned Grove’, is a Minoan Brotherhood coven led by Leonidas, a High Priest (Minos) in the tradition. The specifics of our beliefs and practices are oathbound and initiation is only open to appropriate male seekers. In short, we are a Male Mystery tradition with a knowledge of British Witchcraft (primarily Gardnerian) originating in the New Forest and an ecstatic connection to the Great Mother Rhea, Her Starry Son Asterion, and the primal Gods of the Aegean. The tradition was born in the 1970′s as an alternative to the heterosexual-focused beliefs and practices of witchcraft at the time. Most of our membership identify as gay and bisexual. There is also a Minoan Sisterhood specifically for women and (in theory) the Cult of the Double-Axe when men and women of both traditions would join together for certain festivals.
In contrast, the Kretan Temple (Naos Kretaios) is a group open to men and women of all pagan persuasions. We would like to create an atmosphere where all those drawn to Hellenic, pre-Hellenic, Roman, Greco-Roman, Greco-Egyptian, Romano-British and related Gods and Goddesses will feel welcome, no matter what their personal beliefs and practices or level of experience and knowledge are.
